This guide is for brand owners, packaging buyers, decorators and production managers who know the product they need printed and want to know whether an LSINC cylindrical printer does it, which of the three cylindrical Peri models fits, and whether to buy the machine or send the job out. The short answer

An LSINC cylindrical printer prints full-colour artwork directly around almost any round or tapered container: perfume bottles, body spray and aerosol cans, cosmetic jars, tubes and bottles, candle jars, tumblers, cups and glasses, and water and beverage bottles. The ink is UV-cured onto the surface itself, so the decoration is part of the piece rather than a label applied to it, and it can be built up in layers for raised, tactile and faux-embossed effects.

Which of the three cylindrical LSINC machines you need depends on the object and the volume. The PeriOne handles one item at a time and the largest objects; the PeriQ360 prints four at once for production volume; the Perivallo360m follows tapered and contoured shapes. What is an LSINC cylindrical printer, in one paragraph?

It is an industrial direct-to-object UV inkjet printer built for cylindrical and tapered products. The container is held on a spindle and rotates while Ricoh piezo print heads lay down UV-curable ink in one continuous spiral, and LED lamps cure the ink as it lands, so there is no seam, no drying time and no label. LSINC Corporation of Huntsville, Alabama, builds three cylindrical models, the PeriOne, PeriQ360 and Perivallo360m, all on the same JetINX print engine with seven ink channels, an Onyx Thrive RIP and a 21-inch on-board controller. Which products can LSINC cylindrical printers print?

LSINC's own application lists cover drinkware, personalised items, proofing and prototyping, wine and spirit bottles, beverage cans, aerosol and paint cans, syrups and flavourings, cosmetic and pharmaceutical containers, and glass and ceramic candle vessels. In the Gulf, the same machines run on the products below. The table gives the material and shape you will usually be printing, and the Peri model that normally fits; the sections that follow go through each industry.

Perfume bottle printing: which LSINC machine prints fragrance bottles?

Round and tapered perfume bottles are the natural job for the Peri Series, and the Gulf fragrance market is where the machines earn their keep in this region. The print goes straight onto the glass, clear glass included, so a bottle can carry a full-colour wrap, a fine line pattern or a single monogram with no label edge and no sleeve seam. Because the ink is laid down in layers, a logo can be built up until it stands proud of the glass and can be felt as well as seen, which LSINC calls tactile effects and faux embossing.

The choice of machine follows the bottle and the run. A PeriOne suits perfume houses that launch new designs, sample them and run limited editions: one bottle at a time, manual loading, and the largest object window of the three (up to 152 mm in diameter and 457 mm long). A PeriQ360 is the production machine: four bottles at once, semi-automatic loading, G7 colour calibration and a rated 1,146 pieces an hour at a 4-inch artwork height. A Perivallo360m is the answer for bottles whose shoulders or bodies taper beyond the +10°/−2° window of the other two, because its heads follow the contour up to ±30°. Alcohol is the real test for fragrance packaging, because eau de parfum is largely alcohol and a print that shrugs off water can be softened by repeated contact with the product. All-over body spray and aerosol can printing

All-over printing means the artwork wraps the entire can, base to shoulder, 360 degrees, in one pass, so the can itself becomes the packaging with no label and no shrink sleeve. Aluminium monobloc cans are straight-walled and consistent, which makes them one of the easiest objects for a helical printer, and the cans in the photograph at the top of this page were printed exactly that way, several designs with no label, including production runs for fragrance brands in the UAE.

For volume, the PeriQ360 is the can machine: four cans at a time, loaded while the previous set prints, with white ink available for coverage on metal and coloured cans. The PeriOne prints the same cans one at a time for short runs, samples and seasonal editions such as Eid or National Day designs. Cosmetic and personal care packaging: jars, tubes and bottles

Cosmetics is on every LSINC application list, and LSINC describes the PeriOne as optimised for prototyping and short runs, which is how cosmetic brands most often meet the machine: a jar or bottle printed with the real artwork to see the design on the real container before a launch, then a launch run, then production. Skincare jars, airless and dropper bottles, mist bottles, toner and lotion bottles and rigid tubes all print, in glass and in the clear and coloured plastics that skincare packaging is made from.

Two things decide the job on plastics. The first is adhesion: PET, HDPE and PP have low surface energy, so the container is tested first and printed with a jettable primer, which the PeriOne and PeriQ360 offer, or after pre-treatment, which is why PRO TECHnology also supplies MODICO surface pre-treatment. The PeriOne and PeriQ360 hold objects from 38 mm across, which covers most jars and bottles; slim tubes, roll-ons and lipstick cases below that need the Perivallo360m, which prints from 20 mm and follows the taper of a shaped bottle up to ±30°. Soft squeeze tubes deform in use, so the print area on those is planned around how the tube is handled.

Clear packaging raises the usual question of white ink: colour printed on a clear jar reads as a tint, with the product showing through it, unless a white layer is laid under the artwork. The Peri Series prints white where you want opacity and leaves it out where you want the see-through effect, in the same pass. Candle jar and candle printing

LSINC lists glass and ceramic candle vessels among the PeriOne's applications, and candle jars are one of the most frequent cylindrical jobs in Dubai: home fragrance brands, hotel amenity lines, Ramadan and Eid gifting and corporate gifts. The vessel is printed as a finished piece, so an empty jar can be decorated before pouring, and a jar that has already been poured and wicked can be decorated too, which matters because the wax is often poured before anyone thinks about branding. The design can be a full wrap, a wrap that leaves clear glass so the wax colour shows, or a raised monogram built up in layers so it can be felt. Tumblers, cups, glasses and qahwa cups

Drinkware is the first application on LSINC's PeriOne sheet, and LSINC has shown the PeriQ360 printing pint glasses on its own blog. Glass tumblers, highballs and rocks glasses, stainless steel and coated metal tumblers, porcelain cups and the qahwa cups that carry so much of the region's corporate gifting all print directly, with a full-colour wrap, a single-colour logo or a personalised name on each piece.

Shape decides the machine. A tumbler or cup is nearly always tapered, and the PeriOne and PeriQ360 accept tapers up to +10°/−2°, which covers straight and gently flared shapes; steeper cups and conical tumblers need the Perivallo360m and its ±30° contour following. Water bottles, beverage bottles and cans

Beverage packaging is one of LSINC's core markets, and the Gulf reference is Pure Beverages Industry Company in Saudi Arabia, which prints its Ival and Oska bottles on a PeriOne and a PeriQ360: the story is in our PBIC case study. Glass, PET and aluminium containers all run on the same platform, which is what lets a bottler print a limited edition, a co-branded run or a hospitality client's own bottle without ordering new labels.

Filled, sealed bottles can be printed as well as empty ones, so the decoration can be applied to finished stock, and clear PET and clear glass print with no white base and no barrier on the PeriOne and PeriQ360. Which LSINC machine fits which job?

Three questions settle it: how big and what shape is the object, how many do you print in a shift, and does the artwork change from piece to piece. The table gives the rule of thumb; the buying guide has the full specification tables, and the LSINC machines page has a production calculator.

Two practical notes. Rated speed is a figure at one artwork height with the machine fed continuously; a can with full coverage, a bottle with a raised layer or a line staffed by one operator will run differently, and that is worked through on the can printing machines page. And the sample decides: before any machine is specified, PRO TECHnology prints the customer's own containers in Dubai, which is also how a buyer sees the real adhesion, the real colour on clear glass and the real raised effect rather than a brochure.

Can LSINC printers print embossed and tactile effects?

Yes. The accurate terms are the ones LSINC uses, tactile effects and faux embossing, because the glass is not deformed the way moulded embossing deforms it; the relief is built in cured ink. UV ink cures the instant it passes the LED lamp, so another pass can be laid on top of the last, and a logo, a pattern or a texture is built up layer by layer until it stands proud of the surface. LSINC lists multi-layer printing, tactile effects and faux embossing among the PeriOne's features, its PeriQ360 material describes texture, tactile and faux-embossing samples, and Roland DG, which distributes LSINC printers outside this region, describes the same capability as varnish-based embossing.

The ink sets make it possible: white for a base or an opaque highlight, varnish for gloss, matte or clear relief, and the colour channels, all on one machine, with a jettable primer channel on the PeriOne and PeriQ360 for surfaces that need it. Raised work behaves best when it is placed sensibly, away from the rim a hand grips and the point a bottle stands on, because a taller structure gives a fingernail, a rack or a dishwasher jet more to catch. Is the print dishwasher safe, alcohol safe and microwave safe?

Yes, with the right recipe. PRO TECHnology rates prints from the Peri Series, produced with the correct pre-treatment or primer, ink set and cure, as dishwasher safe, alcohol safe, scratch resistant, UV resistant and microwave safe, and the capability is on record from the ink side too: quoted in Graphics Pro's March 2023 drinkware feature, Bob Keller, president of Marabu North America, said of the PeriOne that the output of this printer is dishwasher safe and more economical to produce. LSINC has shown its printers running Marabu UltraJet DLE-A UV inks, which the two companies' joint announcement describes as custom tuned for the highest print speeds with industry-best durability.

Three practical notes keep that promise honest. Dishwasher: a commercial dishwasher with alkaline detergent and jet pressure is a harder test than a domestic one, and the container's own coating matters as much as the print, so a cheap coating that softens in the wash takes a perfect print off with it. Alcohol: eau de parfum is largely alcohol, and the test that matters for a fragrance bottle is a rub with the customer's own product, because contact plus wiping is harder than either alone. Microwave: the cured print is microwave safe on glass and ceramic ware; the container decides the rest, and metal never goes in a microwave whether printed or not.

So the recipe is set once and confirmed on every new container. Are the inks eco-friendly?

LSINC lists eco-friendly digital inks among the PeriOne's features, and it is worth saying what sits behind the phrase rather than repeating it. The Peri Series uses UV LED-curable inks: the ink is a liquid that turns solid under the lamp as it lands, so there is no solvent carrier to evaporate and no drying oven, and LED lamps run cooler and use less energy than the mercury-arc lamps of older UV printing. The bigger saving is in what direct printing removes. LSINC describes its printers as eliminating labels and secondary decoration processes, which in practice means no printed label, no shrink sleeve, no adhesive and no liner waste for every container, and no screens, films or plates for every design change.

What it does not mean is that any ink is automatically suitable for every product. The print sits on the outside of the container and is decorative; food-contact, cosmetic and pharmaceutical packaging still needs the ink's safety data sheet and any application-specific compliance documents checked for the market it is sold in, and the sensible time to ask for them is before artwork goes to production. Where can I get bottles, cans, candles or cups printed in the UAE?

At Sun Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, the group's UV printing studio. Sun Studio installed both LSINC cylindrical machines, the single-spindle PeriOne and the four-spindle PeriQ360, and offers cylindrical printing as a production service to fragrance, cosmetics, candle, drinkware, gifting and beverage brands across the UAE. There is no minimum order: it prints one suitable bottle, jar, can or cup, a sample, or a full production run, and the price per piece falls as the quantity rises. Sun Studio is also where a machine buyer sees the real thing. Who sells LSINC printers in the Middle East?

PRO TECHnology, Dubai. LSINC appointed PRO TECHnology as its exclusive dealer for the Middle East and North Africa on 7 December 2023, in LSINC's own announcement, and LSINC's global distributors page lists PRO TECHnology for 14 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. PRO TECHnology supplies the PeriOne, PeriQ360 and Perivallo360m, installs them, trains the operators, and keeps service engineers, spare parts, LSINC inks and consumables in Dubai, so support does not wait on a shipment from the United States. In Saudi Arabia, its arm PRONEXT in Riyadh gives customers in-Kingdom demonstrations and support, with Dubai engineering behind it. What can an LSINC cylindrical printer print on?

Round and tapered containers in glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, wood and paper: perfume bottles, body spray and aerosol cans, cosmetic jars, tubes and bottles, candle jars, tumblers, cups and glasses, water and beverage bottles, and promotional items. Clear glass prints with no white base, and plastics are tested and primed or pre-treated first.

Which LSINC machine is best for perfume bottles?

For round or gently tapered glass bottles, the PeriOne for samples, launches and short runs, and the PeriQ360 for production volume, printing four bottles at once. Bottles that taper beyond +10°/−2° need the Perivallo360m, which follows contours up to ±30°. Flat-fronted perfume bottles are printed on a UV flatbed instead.

Can you print all over a body spray can?

Yes. LSINC printers wrap the artwork 360 degrees around an aluminium can in one pass, base to shoulder, with white ink for coverage, so the can needs no label or sleeve. The PeriQ360 prints four cans at a time for volume; the PeriOne prints short runs and seasonal editions. Sun Studio prints cans this way in Dubai.

Can cosmetic jars, tubes and plastic bottles be printed directly?

Yes. Glass, PET, HDPE, PP and acrylic jars, airless and dropper bottles, mist bottles and rigid tubes print directly. Plastics are adhesion-tested and printed with a jettable primer or after pre-treatment. Objects from 38 mm across fit the PeriOne and PeriQ360; slimmer tubes and lipstick cases down to 20 mm need the Perivallo360m.

Can you print directly on candles or candle jars?

Yes. LSINC lists glass and ceramic candle vessels among its applications. The jar is printed as a finished piece, empty or already poured and wicked, with a full wrap, a clear window for the wax colour or a raised monogram. The glass or ceramic vessel, rather than the wax, is the surface that carries a design reliably.

Can a cylindrical printer print tumblers, cups and glasses?

Yes, handle-free drinkware in glass, porcelain, ceramic, stainless steel and coated metal, including pint glasses and qahwa cups. Taper decides the machine: up to +10°/−2° on the PeriOne and PeriQ360, up to ±30° on the Perivallo360m. Handled mugs go on LSINC's PeriH instead. With the right recipe the print is dishwasher safe, and Sun Studio confirms it on a sample before a run.

Can you print on bottles that are already filled?

Yes. Filled, sealed glass, PET and aluminium bottles can be printed as finished goods, because the UV ink cures on the outside surface the instant it lands and nothing touches the contents. Sun Studio has filmed a PeriQ360 printing four filled water bottles in one cycle, and poured candle jars are printed the same way.

Can the print on a bottle be embossed or raised?

Yes. LSINC calls it tactile effects and faux embossing: the raised effect is built in cured ink, layer on layer, using the varnish and white channels as well as colour, until a logo or pattern stands proud of the surface and can be felt. It works best placed away from the rim a hand grips and the point the piece stands on.

Is the print dishwasher safe?

Yes, with the right recipe. Produced with the correct pre-treatment or primer, ink set and cure, PRO TECHnology rates the print as dishwasher safe, alcohol safe, scratch resistant, UV resistant and microwave safe on glass and ceramic, and Marabu North America's president has said the same of PeriOne output. Sun Studio confirms the recipe on a sample of each new container before a production run.

Is the print alcohol safe on perfume bottles?

Yes. With primer or pre-treatment and a full cure, the print is alcohol safe, which is what a perfume bottle needs because eau de parfum is largely alcohol. Sun Studio proves it on each new bottle with a rub test using the customer's own fragrance before the run, since contact plus wiping is a harder test than either alone.

Can printed glasses and cups go in the microwave?

The cured UV print is microwave safe on glass and ceramic ware, so a printed glass or porcelain cup can be microwaved. The container itself decides the rest: metal tumblers and cans never go in a microwave, printed or not.

Are the UV inks eco-friendly?

LSINC lists eco-friendly digital inks among the PeriOne's features. The inks are UV LED-cured: no solvent carrier evaporates, there is no drying oven, and LED lamps use less energy than mercury-arc lamps. Direct printing also removes the label, sleeve, adhesive and liner. Safety data sheets are supplied, and product-specific compliance is checked per market.

Does clear glass need a white base before printing?

Not on the PeriOne or PeriQ360, which print clear or coloured glass with no white base and no barrier required. White is printed where you want opacity, for example under a full-colour logo, and left out where you want a see-through effect, in the same pass.

Can each piece carry a different name or design?

Yes. There are no screens or plates, so changing the artwork between pieces is a file change. The PeriQ360 caches variable data and runs up to four different designs at a time; the PeriOne and Perivallo360m print one design at a time, changing it as often as the job needs.

What are the smallest and largest objects an LSINC printer can print?

The Perivallo360m prints objects from 20 mm in diameter; the PeriOne and PeriQ360 from 38 mm. The PeriOne takes the largest pieces, up to 152 mm in diameter and 457 mm long; the PeriQ360 up to 114 mm and 406 mm; the Perivallo360m up to 139 mm and 406 mm.

How fast do LSINC cylindrical printers print?

At a 4-inch (101.6 mm) artwork height, LSINC rates the PeriOne at 282 pieces an hour, the PeriQ360 at 1,146 and the Perivallo360m at 174. Real output depends on ink coverage, the object's geometry, raised layers, loading and staffing, so a timed test on your own container is the figure to plan with.

Can LSINC printers print on PET and HDPE plastic bottles?

Yes. Pure Beverages in Saudi Arabia prints PET, glass and aluminium containers on a PeriOne and a PeriQ360. Plastics have low surface energy, so the bottle is adhesion-tested first and printed with a jettable primer or after surface pre-treatment; the recipe is set at installation and checked on a sample of each new container.

Where can I get bottles, cans, candles or cups printed in Dubai?

At Sun Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, which runs an LSINC PeriOne and a PeriQ360 as a printing service for fragrance, cosmetics, candle, drinkware, gifting and beverage brands. There is no minimum order: one suitable piece, a sample or a full production run, with the price per piece falling as the quantity rises.

Do I have to buy a machine, or can I outsource the printing?

Both routes run through Dubai. Sun Studio prints your containers as a service and is also where a buyer can see their own product printed before deciding. Brands and decorators that want in-house capacity buy the machine from PRO TECHnology, with installation, training, local service, spare parts and inks.
