Cylindrical UV Printing in the UAE and Saudi Arabia: The LSINC Peri Series

Direct to object printing, with no label and no sleeve

Cylindrical UV printing puts the artwork straight onto the product. A bottle, can, jar or cup is loaded into the machine and rotated under a UV inkjet head, and the ink is cured by UV light as it lands. There is no paper label, no shrink sleeve and no adhesive, so what leaves the printer is the finished item.

That changes the economics of a run. Plates, screens and label tooling disappear, so a single piece costs the same per unit as a long run, and an artwork change is a file change rather than a new label order with its own minimum quantity. For Gulf brands running Ramadan, Eid and National Day editions alongside a core line, that flexibility is usually why the conversation starts.

It also removes a failure point. Labels lift, sleeves wrinkle over a shoulder or a waist, and adhesive shows through clear glass. A cured UV print sits on the surface itself, and the container can be handled straight out of the machine.

The LSINC Peri Series: three cylindrical printers

LSINC Corporation, based in Huntsville, Alabama, builds the Peri Series. Three models are offered commercially, and the choice between them is a question of volume and of what the container looks like.

• PeriOne, the single station volume model and a true industrial print engine, with extended diameter and height dimensions so it takes growlers, vases and large wine bottles
• PeriQ360, the four station machine for higher volumes, used for promotional drinkware production and for work as demanding as printing directly onto steel cans
• Perivallo360m, the compact model, and the only one in the range that can print up the neck of a bottle, provided the angle does not exceed 30 degrees

Printing clear glass with no barrier layer

Clear glass is the hard case in cylindrical printing, because UV light travels through the bottle and can cure ink on the far wall. The Peri Series prints directly onto clear glass with no barrier and no manual intervention, so nothing has to be packed inside the bottle to block the light, a workaround that introduces dust and germs to a surface about to hold fragrance or drinking water.

A jettable primer runs on the PeriOne, which means glass no longer needs a separate pretreatment step before it reaches the printer. Multi-Level Print, a recent release, lays down primer, CMYK, white, CMYK and varnish in one build, so a design on clear glass reads correctly from the outside and from the inside of the bottle. That matters when the container is transparent and the glass itself is the label.

All three machines print a wine bottle from base to neck, which is taller than the maximum print area of many cylindrical printers. Prefilled bottles can be printed on the Peri Series as well, so decoration does not have to sit before filling in the production sequence.

What UAE and Saudi brands put through a cylindrical bottle printer

The application list is broader than most buyers expect on the first visit. These are categories already running on Peri Series machines, in the region and elsewhere.

• Perfume bottles, including full wrap colour, marbled and snake skin effects, and raised white relief work
• Aluminium body spray and deodorant aerosol cans, printed as full wrap decorated line ups across a whole fragrance range
• Qahwa cups, printed in production quantities and boxed, including personalised two cup designs
• Glass water bottles for beverage brands, including Eid and UAE National Day seasonal designs
• PET bottles for cosmetics, haircare, body wash and food, with full ingredient and nutrition panel text printed directly on the container
• Wine and spirits bottles, printed from base to neck, including prefilled bottles
• Glass decorating: pint glasses, stemless wine glasses, whiskey glass sets and candle vessels
• Promotional products and drinkware for large promotional houses
• Industrial work: steel cans, aerosol cans and plastic tubes for paint and caulking manufacturers
• Prototyping, printing a real design straight onto a jar or a cosmetic pack instead of wrapping printed paper around the surface

Raised, tactile finishes on a perfume bottle

Raised tactile effects are a core selling point of the range, and in the Gulf luxury segment they often carry the whole design. White relief on a perfume bottle gives a decoration the customer feels before reading it, and varnish adds gloss, matte and embossed passages over flat colour.

LSINC's own material cites Peck and Childers (2006) for the finding that a consumer who reaches out to touch a product is 62% more likely to buy it. That is third party research rather than a machine specification, but it explains why raised work keeps winning shelf tests against flat print.

White and varnish are also what make a design survive on dark or clear glass, where CMYK alone would sink into the substrate. On a clear flacon, white is the base that gives the colour something to sit on.

Ink compliance and operator safety

Compliance questions come up early in the Gulf, particularly for anything a child or a food product might touch. The UV inks that run on the Peri Series are formulated for consumer product decoration, and the ink manufacturer holds current third party test documentation covering heavy metals and regulated phthalates. We can supply the applicable certificates for your product and market on request.

Ask for that documentation before artwork goes to production rather than after. Which report applies depends on what you are decorating and where it will be sold, so a certificate that covers a promotional drinkware line is not automatically the right evidence for cosmetics packaging or anything food adjacent.

Bear in mind that ink test reports are generally issued against North American or European standards rather than Gulf conformity approvals. Treat them as evidence of a clean chemistry, not as clearance for your specific product. For children's items or food adjacent packaging sold in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, confirm the end use requirement with the relevant authority before you commit.

Operator safety is not optional with UV chemistry. The inks and their fumes can be combustible, may irritate eyes and skin, may be absorbed through the skin and may cause respiratory and nervous system effects, so operators wear protective eyeglasses and gloves, tie back loose hair, avoid loose clothing and remove jewellery, rings in particular.

Site requirements, installation and support in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the GCC

Buyers usually study the print samples and skip the site sheet, then lose weeks at installation. LSINC's requirements document for the PeriOne and the Perivallo360m, dated 08 July 2026, sets out what the facility has to provide.

• Delivery: one crate, roughly 250 by 105 by 223 cm (98.25 by 41.25 by 87.625 in), crated weight about 930 kg, the uncrated printer about 481 kg
• Footprint: approximately 236 by 76 cm (93 by 30 in), standing 185 cm (73 in) high, with a minimum of three feet, about 900 mm, of working space left, right and rear to reach all compartments
• Power: 16 A, 200 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase, supplied with a NEMA L6-20 plug and requiring a matching L6-20 receptacle. LSINC recommends a UPS of suitable capacity where the supply is unstable
• Compressed air: continuously available factory air at 90 to 120 PSI, roughly 6.2 to 8.3 bar
• Environment: indoor use only, elevation up to 2,000 m, ambient air 18 to 30 °C, humidity 40 to 70 per cent non condensing, and not rated for vibration, shock or bump
• Extraction: fumes from the UV cured inks ventilated to an outside source as local ordinance requires
• Ink: a minimum 5 litre container of DIUR-3 on site in time for installation
• Connectivity: an internet connection so LSINC technicians can remote into the printer for service, using the RJ45 port on the exterior of the machine. Wi-Fi is not native to the onboard PC, so a Wi-Fi adapter is needed if you go wireless

Two of those lines catch Gulf sites out. The 18 to 30 °C ambient limit rules out an uncooled warehouse bay in Dubai or Riyadh through the summer, and the 40 to 70 per cent humidity guidance means a coastal unit needs proper climate control rather than a fan. The power supply is friendlier: 200 to 240 VAC at 50 Hz single phase is standard across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, but the machine ships with a NEMA L6-20 plug, so an L6-20 receptacle has to be fitted before delivery day.

LSINC personnel attend site to assist with uncrating and to manage proper setup in the facility, and a signed site requirements form is required before the machine is installed. Daily operator maintenance is expected after that: purging and cleaning the printheads, checking pressures, and clearing spills and broken media. Consumables such as printheads and fan filters are not replaced under the limited warranty.

The machines are designed specifically for inks and media authorised by LSINC, and only approved consumables purchased from LSINC Corporation or an authorised distributor are warranted for use in them. That is where a regional partner earns its place. You do not have to buy a printer to find out whether cylindrical printing suits your product. Sun Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, part of the PRO TECHnology group and running since 2011, has the LSINC PeriQ and PeriOne installed on site.
