Albert removes up to 20 litres a day (Stadler Form's rated maximum, reached only from about 22 °C and 70% relative humidity). A cooler, air-conditioned room yields less, and the test conditions are not published. For whole homes, see our sizing guide.
How quiet is Albert, and can you sleep with it on?
Albert is quiet, not inaudible: Stadler Form lists 33 to 44 dB(A). Of the Stadler Form dehumidifiers sold on stadlerform.ae, Albert has the lowest starting sound level, 33 dB(A); Lukas and Lukas Titanium are 38 to 52 dB(A) and Lukas Pro 38 to 55. At full speed, the 10-litre Theo (42 dB(A)) is slightly quieter than Albert (44).
No measuring distance is stated, so read the figures as a comparison between models; and because decibels are logarithmic, Albert's 11 dB(A) spread is a bigger step than it looks.
Where to put Albert in a bedroom
- Stand it upright on a firm, level, waterproof floor, 50 cm from the bed, walls and curtains.
- Keep it out of the en-suite: 60 cm from showers, basins and baths, 120 cm from a tap.
- At night, choose fan speed 1, press night mode and set your hygrostat target.

Does Albert have Wi-Fi, a child lock and automatic shut-off?
Albert has no Wi-Fi, app or child lock, but it switches itself off automatically: when the tank is full, at the target humidity and at the daily timer's stop time. Everything is set with buttons and a dial on top.
The hygrostat
Press the hygrostat button and turn the dial to 30 to 80% RH, or to CO for continuous running. At the target the panel flashes and Albert stops, then runs its fan briefly at intervals and restarts when humidity rises.
The manual suggests 60% or lower; the commonly recommended 40 to 60% band makes conditions less favourable for damp, condensation and mould growth.
A daily clock timer, not a countdown
Set the clock, a start time and a stop time, and Albert runs in that window every day; the manual's example is cheaper night-time power tariffs. Stadler Form calls it a digital 24-hour timer.
- Hold SET for 5 seconds, then set the hour and the minutes with the dial, pressing SET after each.
- Press SET briefly and choose the switch-on and switch-off times.
- Press timer on/off: the blue LED lights and the schedule repeats daily.
After a power cut, Stadler Form's online FAQ says Albert keeps its settings for 24 hours and switches back on; the printed manual does not mention this.
No child lock: the manual says children must not play with the appliance. Lukas and Lukas Pro have one.
Can Albert dry laundry indoors?
Yes, with swing mode, but there is no dedicated laundry mode. The manual says swing mode also suits drying clothes fast and efficiently; hang them at least 50 cm away and do not let water drip onto the unit. No drying time is published. Lukas and Lukas Pro have a dedicated laundry mode.
Tank or drain hose: does Albert need emptying?
Only if you use the tank. When the 4.6-litre tank is full, a symbol blinks and Albert stops; it restarts once the emptied tank is refitted. Some listings round the tank to 5 litres; the manual says 4.6.
Continuous drainage
- Take out the tank, connect the 2 m hose from the box to the drain valve at the back, then refit the tank.
- Lead the hose downhill all the way to a floor drain or outlet lower than the spout.
Water under the unit instead of in the tank? Stadler Form's FAQ says the internal outlet can clog after long use or in dusty air; our Dubai service centre can inspect it.
Does Albert purify the air?
No. Albert only dehumidifies. Its intake has a dust filter that you vacuum when it is dusty, but there is no HEPA filter, CADR or air-quality sensor. For both jobs, Lukas Pro includes a HEPA H11 filter with a CADR of up to 327 m³/h (according to AHAM), and Lukas takes an optional one. See our 2-in-1 guide and air purifier guide.
Setup, placement and safety rules from the manual
Albert is for private indoor use, upright on a firm, level, waterproof surface. The manual's main rules:
- Stand it upright for 24 hours before first use and at least 60 minutes after transporting it.
- Keep 50 cm from objects, 60 cm from showers, sinks and baths, 120 cm from a tap, and never behind curtains.
- No hothouses, pool areas, direct sunlight, flammable gases or open flames.
- Use a 220–240 V, 50 Hz wall socket, never an extension cord or multi-way adapter, and wait 3 to 5 minutes before switching back on.
- Empty the tank before moving it; hidden wheels roll it sideways, and the EU version (A-041E) weighs 13.3 kg.
- Clean with a damp cloth only, and never put the unit in water.
Temperature and defrost
Albert works best at 13 to 35 °C, up to 90% RH. Below 10 °C it defrosts automatically for 7 minutes in every 25; below 5 °C defrost runs too often. Stadler Form says defrost above 10 °C means a technical fault: have the unit inspected.

What Albert is not for
Albert is a household appliance: the manual limits it to private indoor use, not commercial use. It is not for:
- Offices, shops, hotels, or charter and managed yachts.
- Construction drying, warehouses or water-damage restoration.
- Bathrooms beside a shower or bath, pool rooms, balconies or anywhere outdoors.
- Spaces over 70 m² / 175 m³: choose Lukas Pro.
- Set-ups where the only drain is higher than the unit: there is no pump.
Design, Red Dot award and Amazon's Choice
Albert won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2013. Matti Walker, Stadler Form's in-house designer, designed it, and the Red Dot jury singled out its black control panel against the plain white body. It is Swiss design from Stadler Form, founded in Zug in 1998.

Does Albert have Wi-Fi or a child lock?
No. Albert has no Wi-Fi, app, remote control or child lock; everything is set with buttons and a dial on top, and the manual says children must not play with it. For app control over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a child lock, choose Lukas or Lukas Pro.
Does Albert switch off when the tank is full?
Yes. When the 4.6-litre tank is full, a symbol blinks and Albert switches off; empty and refit the tank and it restarts by itself. Do not remove the tank while it runs. To skip emptying, fit the 2 m hose from the box and drain by gravity.
Does Albert restart after a power cut?
Yes, according to Stadler Form: its online FAQ says Albert keeps its settings for 24 hours and switches back on after a power failure, so it can run on the daily timer. The printed manual does not mention this, so check the clock after a long outage.
What humidity should I set on Albert?
Choose a target within the commonly recommended 40 to 60% band; the manual suggests 60% or lower. The hygrostat takes 30 to 80% or continuous running (CO). The step size is not published, and the manual does not say the display shows room humidity, so a hygrometer helps.
Does Albert have a laundry mode for drying clothes?
No dedicated laundry mode, but the manual says swing mode suits drying clothes fast and efficiently. Keep clothes at least 50 cm away and do not let water drip onto the unit. For a dedicated laundry mode with a 6-hour default timer, choose Lukas or Lukas Pro.
Can Albert drain continuously, and can the hose drain upwards?
Continuous drainage, yes; upwards, no. The 2 m hose in the box connects to the back of Albert, so it runs without emptying the tank. Drainage is by gravity only, with no pump, so the hose end must stay lower than the spout.
Does Albert purify the air or have a HEPA filter?
