Which Humanscale chair for which way of working

Humanscale says all of its ergonomic chairs "use the sitter's own body weight and the laws of physics to encourage movement", so none of these task chairs has a recline tension knob to set or reset when users change. The differences are in the back, the recline, the arms and the size range.

Fit matters more than the model name. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration's workstation guidance on chairs is a practical checklist for any of these chairs:

Seat height: the chair is at the right height when "the entire sole of the foot can rest on the floor"; if it cannot go low enough, OSHA suggests a footrest.
Seat depth: sit back fully "without contact between the back of the user's knee and the front edge of the seat pan". Freedom, Liberty, Smart, World and Path all have a seat depth range.
Back and recline: OSHA asks for lumbar support and a recline of "at least 15 degrees from the vertical".
Arms: armrests should support the lower arm and let the upper arm stay close to the body.

Choosing a Humanscale monitor arm

Pick the arm by the weight of the screen first, then the number of screens and the desk. Humanscale replaced its M2.1 and M8.1 arms with the M2 Pro and M8 Pro in 2026, and says the M8 Pro also replaces the discontinued M10.

An arm lets each person set the screen to OSHA's monitor guidance: the top of the screen "at or slightly below eye level" and a viewing distance "between 20 and 40 inches (50 and 100 cm)", directly in front of the user.

Sit-stand, keyboard and the rest of the workstation

QuickStand Eco turns a fixed desk into a sit-stand workstation without replacing it: 472 mm of height range for laptop, single or dual monitor set-ups.
Float tables use a non-electric mechanism: Float Mini (692 to 1,053 mm) for compact workstations, Float Gather (677 to 1,108 mm) as a height-adjustable meeting table and Float Micro (483 to 762 mm) as a side or laptop table.
Keyboard systems put the keyboard below the desk top at a negative tilt; OSHA notes a keyboard tray "may be needed if the work surface or chair cannot be properly adjusted".
Foot rockers, the L6 laptop holder, CPU holders, NeatTech cable baskets and the M/Connect 3 docking hub complete the desk.

OSHA's guidance on working postures recommends changing position "frequently throughout the day" and doing some tasks standing; sit-stand products make that change possible at the same desk.

Which Humanscale monitor arm do I need?

Match the arm to the screen weight. The M2 Pro holds monitors from 2.3 to 10 kg (screens up to 43 inches), the M8 Pro from 4.1 to 22.7 kg (up to 65 inches), and M/Flex mounts up to six screens on one post. Check the desk too: the M2 Pro clamp fits desks up to 89 mm thick and the M8 Pro clamp up to 71 mm.

Are the Humanscale M2.1, M8.1 and M10 arms still available?

Humanscale has replaced them. The M2 Pro is the new version of the M2.1, the M8 Pro replaces the M8.1, and Humanscale says the M8 Pro also replaces the discontinued M10. If you are matching arms already in your office, tell us the model you have.

What warranty applies to Humanscale products bought in the UAE?
