In January 2026 the German maker of the wallPen wall printer chose a Dubai company to sell, install and support its machines across the Middle East. This is the announcement, what a wallPen is in plain words, who buys one and why, and what local support has meant since.

Dubai, January 2026. wallPen GmbH of Wissen, Germany, has appointed PRO TECHnology as its exclusive distributor for the Middle East. The agreement brings the wallPen E2, the direct-to-wall UV printer designed and built in Germany, to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain and the wider Middle East through a company in Dubai with its own engineers, spare parts held locally, a demonstration centre where the machine prints on real walls, and installation and operator training with every machine. wallPen's own authorisation letter of 9 April 2026 confirms PRO TECHnology as an authorised distributor and the wallPen signage at the group's demonstration centre in Dubai. ## The announcement

PRO TECHnology and wallPen GmbH reached their distribution agreement in January 2026. wallPen makes the wallPen E2, a printer that stands on the floor, follows a rail along the wall and prints photographs, artwork, lettering and patterns straight onto the finished surface. Until then a buyer in the Gulf who wanted one had to deal with the factory in Germany, or with an importer who could not install, train or repair. The appointment changes that: PRO TECHnology imports the machines, demonstrates them, installs them, trains the operators and supports them from Dubai. PRO TECHnology had already shown the machine in the region, including at the [Saudi Signage and Labeling Expo 2025](https://www.protechnology.ae/pro-technology-pronext-at-saudi-signage-labeling-expo-2025-riyadh) in Riyadh; the January 2026 agreement made it wallPen's exclusive distributor for the Middle East.

wallPen GmbH's authorisation letter of 9 April 2026, issued by its international sales department in Wissen, confirms that PRO TECHnology is an authorised distributor of wallPen, authorised to represent and distribute wallPen products and to carry the wallPen logo on the signboard and branding of its demonstration centre in Dubai. wallPen's regional brochure for the wallPen E2 names PRO TECHnology as its regional distributor, and wallPen's own partner page lists PRO TECHnology as its only partner in any Middle East country.

The territory is the Middle East: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain and the wider region, served from Dubai, with Saudi customers also able to work through PRONEXT, the group's office in Riyadh. wallPen has separate partners elsewhere in the world, so PRO TECHnology's territory is the Middle East and nothing beyond it.

## Why a partner in Dubai: engineers, spare parts, installation and training

A wall printer is not a desktop printer. It arrives in six bags, it is assembled and calibrated on site, its operator has to learn how to prepare a wall, load artwork on a tablet and set the print height, and one day a printhead, a sensor or a cable will need a technician. wallPen's own material lists training and support during installation as one of the things that separate the machine from cheaper copies; PRO TECHnology's job is to make that real in the region. That means:

- **Demonstration on real walls.** The group's demonstration centre in Al Quoz, Dubai, run by sister company [Sun Studio](https://www.sunstudio.ae/services/wall-printing-dubai/), prints on plaster, glass, concrete and textured walls every week; bring your own artwork and a surface sample.
- **Installation and operator training** with every machine, at the customer's site, until the operator can set up, calibrate and print alone. In the version we checked, the wallPen software also has a simulation mode for practice before the machine arrives.

## What a wallPen is, in plain words

The wallPen E2 is a vertical printer. A base unit on wheels stands on a short rail on the floor, a mast rises from it, and a print head travels up and down the mast while the whole machine moves sideways along the rail. Five Ricoh printheads, one per colour with white as an option, lay down UV ink that a UV LED lamp cures at once, so the print is dry, scratch-resistant and abrasion-resistant the moment the head passes. Width is unlimited: a corridor or a facade runs as one continuous piece. Height is 1.7 to 2.4 m as standard and up to 4 m with the extension set, at a resolution of up to 1,200 dpi.

A laser sensor measures the distance to the wall continuously and compensates for unevenness of up to 10 cm, which is why holes, cracks, textured plaster, brick and concrete print as well as a smooth painted wall. The machine runs from a household socket between 100 and 240 volts, sets up in well under an hour, and is controlled from a 7-inch tablet with a live preview and an ink-cost estimate before printing. It weighs 89 kg in total and travels in six tailor-made bags, the heaviest around 22 kg, so one operator moves it between sites in a car.

### Three generations from Wissen

wallPen has worked on wall printing since 2015. The E1, the first wall printer made in Germany, came in 2017; the improved E1plus followed in 2019; and since September 2021 the E2, redesigned from scratch with more than 100 improvements and built to be updated rather than replaced. The E2 is designed, developed and made by wallPen GmbH in Wissen, in western Germany, and wallPen says its development was supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

### The ink

wallPen's UV inks are made in Europe specifically for the machine, under ISO 9001, and they are vegan and contain no solvents or thinners. One ink prints on almost every wall surface, pre-treatment permitting, and each material should be tested first. Special colours can be mixed to order, and RAL and Pantone references are printed through ICC colour profiles, so a corporate colour lands on the wall as specified. Consumption is about 5 to 10 ml per square metre, and wallPen rates indoor prints as colour-fast for up to 12 years. A print can be painted over and reprinted at any time.

## Who buys a wall printer, and for what: the everyday problems behind the enquiries

Most people who contact us about the wallPen do not start with the specification. They start with a wall they need to change. These are the requests we hear most, in the words people use, and what the machine does about them.

- **“We fit out offices and every client wants a feature wall, but wallpaper and vinyl keep peeling.”** Fit-out contractors print the artwork onto the plaster itself: no seams, no adhesive, no edges to lift in an air-conditioned building.
